The Volkswagen signature
The Touareg has a light signature both front and rear. The rear lights retain the 'click-clack' light signature which now incorporates a light bar across the entire rear of the boot finished off with an illuminated VW rondel (a first for Volkswagen Australia). The side mirrors also feature puddle lights which project the Volkswagen logo on the ground.

The new Touareg Wolfsburg Edition
Based on the 210TDI R-Line, the Touareg Wolfsburg Edition pays tribute to Volkswagen’s home city with exclusive black finishes, 21-inch Black Leeds alloy wheels and the wolf-and-castle badge. With the panoramic sunroof, Sound and Comfort package and an exclusive Oryx White option, it brings a distinctly refined touch to a truly premium SUV.
A control centre like no other
The Innovision Cockpit is the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system combined. Light just where you need it
HD LED headlights have 19,200 precision pixels which allow for long-range and precision light projection. Lane Light highlights the lane marking and the edge of the road, Side Assist provides warnings by highlighting the side of the lane when a vehicle is in your blind spot and Orientation light shows the width of the vehicle while navigating a narrow road or construction site.
Stable roof system
The Touareg is now equipped as standard with a new roof load sensor, that is closely integrated with the suspension electronics. If a roof load is detected, it allows the stability control system to intervene earlier to increase driving stability. The system adapts to change the vehicle's centre of gravity to reduce its tendency to tilt. The roof load sensor only works with Genuine Volkswagen roof bars.
Power to go
The Touareg features a powerful 3.0L V6 diesel engine, providing up to 210kW of power (170kW for 170TDI variant) and 600Nm of torque (500Nm for 170TDI variant) and a braked towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes. Combine that with 4MOTION all-wheel drive, you’ve got the power to go anywhere and conquer anything. Excited? We can’t blame you.
Total control on the road
When the rear wheels steer as well as the front wheels, a smaller turning circle can be achieved. This means greater manoeuvrability in tight spaces. The rear wheels also help with stability when you’re travelling faster than 50km/h. There’s no doubt you’ll feel complete confidence on any kind of drive. Not available on 170 TDI or 210TDI Elegance

No more playing corners
The Touareg’s front and rear active stabilisers are hydraulic and reduce the lateral tilt when cornering. This helps the car respond sensitively to steering, even at low speeds. This system also helps to prevent understeering during more dynamic cornering. All to ensure you and your passengers always have a safer trip. Not available on 170TDI and 210TDI Elegance
Redefining premium performance
Combining a 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor, the Touareg R is the first Volkswagen plug-in hybrid to be released in Australia. Driver assist
The Touareg puts your safety in the spotlight. Using a multi-function camera and radar, your semi-autonomous assistant can ensure you stay within lane markings, monitor potential collisions and even adapt your speed to traffic situations. Travel Assist Supports the driver with intelligent, active steering, accelerating and braking, whilst Lane Assist detects lane markings and keeps your car within the lines, all whilst at highway speeds. Also incorporates side assist and ACC to give you complete control and peace of mind whilst driving on the freeway. 1 Adaptive Cruise Control Maintains speed set by driver and adapts the speed to the traffic situation by braking and accelerating within the system limits.1 Side Assist The new Side Assist feature uses LED lights to let you know if there are other vehicles up to 70m behind you on your left or right. Once you indicate to change lanes, the system will flash if there is any potential danger and can even apply corrective steering using Lane Assist to avoid a collision.1
Front Assist
Front Assist is an autonomous emergency braking system that supports you at low and high speeds. Using its smart sensors, the system responds to vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and even stationary obstacles, warning you of their presence and automatically braking if a collision seems imminent.1
Parking
Impress friends, family and the occasional pedestrian as you glide into tricky parallel and right-angle spots with ease. Using the rear-view camera and semi-automated Park Assist’s sensors, the Touareg can do the manoeuvring for you. Park Assist Plus The new Touareg can help relieve the stress of finding that perfect parking spot with smart sensors that not only tell you if a space is large enough when you drive past – but by doing the manoeuvring for you too. Park Assist Plus further aides the driver by taking over the throttle, braking and gear change functions.1
Accident prevention
Keeping people safe is all a part of the Touareg’s nature. With the ability to detect hazards, these safety systems can support you in critical situations, activate protective mechanisms to tighten seatbelts and roll the windows up, or even bring the vehicle to a stop. Emergency Assist Combines the functions of Lane Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control. The system is alerted when no steering, braking or acceleration activity is detected despite sensing traffic ahead. Initially, the system attempts to wake the driver by steering jerks and finally an emergency stop is initiated and hazard warning lights are activated.1 Proactive Occupant Protection System Automatically initiates protective mechanisms when a potential hazard is identified – seatbelts tighten, windows roll up leaving a slight crack.1 Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP ®) With the antilock braking system (ABS) and the traction control system support the driver in critical situations.1 Oncoming vehicle braking when turning To help prevent collisions, the Touareg comes equipped with oncoming vehicle braking that automatically kicks in when you’re turning if the car detects a vehicle in your path.1 Multi-collision braking If the worst happens and you are in an accident, the Multi Collision Brake system automatically slows the vehicle to help prevent a second collision.1
For an all-round overview
Manoeuvring in the busy city centre, in a multi-storey car park or in rough terrain: There are many situations in which drivers could use a few extra eyes. With the "Area View" you get four cameras that capture the area around the car and transmit helpful insights to the screen of the infotainment system. For example, you can see curbs or parking markings better and can even look around the corner.1
